Linus Straßer’s Ski Racing Journey: Close Call for Third World Cup Victory

2024-02-25 22:45:00

Ski racer Linus Straßer narrowly missed his third World Cup victory of the season.

In the slalom in Palisades Tahoe, California, the man from Munich came third behind the Austrian Manuel Feller and Noel Clement from France. Straßer was still in the lead by four tenths of a second after the first round.

In the end, Straßer was 0.38 seconds behind Feller, who extended his lead in the discipline World Cup to 590 points.

The 31-year-old Straßer (386) is still second. There are still three slalom races left in the ski winter, and it will now be difficult to catch Feller in the fight for the small crystal ball.

Straßer missed slalom victory number three

Straßer had previously won the Slalom World Cups in Kitzbühel and Schladming, and in the USA he could have caught up with big names.

The last time Thomas Dreßen, who resigned at the beginning of the year, achieved three German victories in one season was in 2019/20; Felix Neureuther achieved three victories in the slalom from January to March 2014.

Straßer was the only DSV starter in the second round. Anton Tremmel (Rottach-Egern/38th), Sebastian Holzmann (Oberstdorf/40th) and Fabian Himmelsbach (Sonthofen/46th) did not make it into the top 30.
