Almost a month after a first large-scale demonstration in Brussels, farmers are back in the capital to proclaim their discontent and demand measures.

This Monday, farmers returned to Brussels to demonstrate their discontent in the European Quarter. They want to put pressure on European Union decision-makers and ask them to take strong measures to enable them to make a decent living from their work.

Tunnels and metro stations closed

From 6 a.m. this Monday morning, Brussels Mobility therefore announces that the Brussels tunnels Reyers-Centre, Tervueren, Cinquantenaire and Law are closed towards the Center. This is also the case for Schuman and Maelbeek metro stations and rue Belliard, indicates the Brussels Capital Ixelles police on X.

The protesters should arrive in the capital around 8:30 a.m.via the Chaussée de Mons, the Chaussée de Louvain and the Chaussée de Tervueren, according to the Brussels police.

The federal police indicate that “several columns of tractors are converging towards Brussels via the motorways and national roads”.

Almost a month after a first action, Fugea, the Walloon Federation of Agriculture (FWA) and the Federation of Young Farmers (FJA) will be back in Brussels. These will be accompanied in particular by the European Coordination Via Campesina (ECVC), the Peasant Action Movement (MAP) and the Boerenforum, which will represent Flanders.
