As of 9 pm on the 16th, the number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) nationwide was 38,928.

According to data released by local governments across the country, 38,928 people were confirmed with COVID-19 in 17 cities and provinces from 0 am to 9 pm on the same day. The number of confirmed cases announced on the 17th is expected to exceed 40,000, considering that the counting ends at midnight, although 476 fewer than the same time the previous day.

The number of new confirmed cases was 21,584 (55.4%) in the metropolitan area and 17,344 (44.6%) in non-metropolitan areas.
