[스포츠조선 조지영 기자] Actor Oh Jeong-se (46) said, “The top star character is also a mystery that cannot be solved.”

On the morning of the 21st, Oh Jeong-se shared his thoughts on playing Kang Jo-se, the male protagonist and playboy top star of the movie ‘Spider’s Nest’, in an interview with the black comedy film ‘Cobweb’ (directed by Ji-woon Kim, produced by Anthology Studio and Barunson Studio).

Oh Jeong-se said, “When I first took on the role of Kang Jose, he spoke kindly of me and said he was very in love, but in fact, he was a playboy. I thought he was one of the people with various desires shown in ‘Spider’s Nest’. I was worried regarding how to set up this character and how to portray him. There were a lot of these. I wondered if I should be seen as an unlikable, bad person when the audience thought of it, but when I looked at the overall tone of the movie, I thought it would be better to appear cheerful. I thought it would be better to create a strong Jose that the audience might go along with, so I kept it the way it is now. “I built a character,” he said.

He said, “Even now, it is an unsolved mystery that director Kim Ji-woon chose me to play the role of a top star. I first played the role of a top star in ‘Men’s Manual’ (13, director Lee Won-seok). At the time of ‘Men’s Manual’, I looked at myself with doubt and The public also had a lot of doubts. It was vague and everyone had doubts that an actor who had played a supporting role would play the lead role of a top star. That’s why it was very difficult during ‘Men’s Manual’. He was supposed to act as a top star, but even when I saw it, it didn’t seem like he had the visuals. Even the assistant actor who shouted at me, ‘You’re cool,’ seemed to be having a hard time. But now, perhaps because he’s dressed up a bit, it wasn’t as hard as it was during ‘Men’s Manual.’” He added, “I definitely feel the pressure of being the lead, but now it’s not that big and I don’t feel that pressure. “I’m going to do it. I think it’s a negative thing to worry regarding other things because of the pressure. Although I have responsibility as the lead, I try not to think regarding anything else,” he explained.

He continued, “The work ‘Cobweb’ was a work that did not particularly burden me. When I went to the Cannes Film Festival, I was definitely nervous because it was my first time being invited to a major overseas film festival, but strangely, I wasn’t nervous at the Cannes Film Festival. I was nervous regarding my first red carpet walk in a foreign land. “But the reason I didn’t have to worry regarding it seemed to be because I had a reliable director and colleagues to guide me. There are competing films, but I can enjoy them because I have reliable colleagues. I don’t get anxious because I have Cheongunmanma by my side,” he added.

‘Spider’s Nest’ was filmed in the 1970s, when a director who was obsessed with the idea that the ending of the movie ‘Spider’s Nest’, which had already been filmed, would be better if he re-filmed it, filmed it under adverse conditions that were on the verge of going crazy, including interference from the censorship authorities and actors and producers who did not understand the changed content. It is a work that depicts the gruesome and funny things that happen during the adventure. Song Kang-ho, Lim Soo-jeong, Oh Jeong-se, Jeon Yeo-bin, Jeong Su-jeong, etc. appeared, and director Kim Ji-woon of ‘Inrang’, ‘Emissary’, ‘I Saw the Devil’, and ‘The Good, the Bad, the Weird’ took the megaphone. It will be released on the 27th.
