“I don’t think Woo Young-woo is more special than the other characters I’ve played. But the tears I shed that day are literally the tears I shed in years.”
Park Eun-bin is weird. She had her gun-wielding eyes and a pure smile, which are hard to see in her age group. The aura she exudes from him encompasses both her softness and her firmness. Her very existence is like a warm sunlight.
He proved his acting and box office power at the same time with ‘Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo’ (herefollowing ‘Woo Young-woo’). ‘Woo Young-Woo’ is the survival story of a new lawyer, Woo Young-Woo (Park Eun-Bin), who has a genius brain and an autism spectrum at the same time, and Eun-Bin Park takes on the title role. 26 years of acting experience. His acting growth and Park Eun-bin’s unique delicacy shined in ‘Woo Young-woo’.

Since I received unexpected love from my recent work, ‘Woo Young-woo’ was something special to Park Eun-bin. But she said Park Eun-bin loves her characters equally and every work she’s been through. Rather than thinking that she was special, was it that she was relieved from the burden of having to face various challenges as an actress? She said she was in tears when she finished ‘Woo Young-Woo’, Park Eun-Bin.
“After finishing ‘Woo Young-woo’, I felt a lot of relief. I think there was a lot of tension that it wasn’t over until the end. There were many scenes that were very burdensome as an actor, so I thought that I had to do it really well. Seeing it, I felt the relief of ‘it’s really over’ plus the difficult days passed by. I burst into tears at the complex and subtle emotions of ‘Oh, I did well in the end.'”

Before the final interview, Eunbin Park received the business cards from reporters and spread them out one by one on her table. Park Eun-bin smiled, saying, “It’s my personality to organize things like this.” Her meticulous nature was revealed. She said in a past interview that she likened herself to an ‘acting office worker’ and she said that she thought from ‘can she do it’ when she first met ‘She is Woo Young-woo’, she said. She was a work that should not be approached with an easy mind, so she was regarding to wait for ‘Woo Young-Woo’ played by another actor. But director Yoo In-sik and writer Moon Ji-won waited for her Park Eun-bin. Because she mightn’t have been Park Eun-bin. She said that Park Eun-bin was full of her burden, and she became ‘Woo Young-woo’. The result was successful.
“When I received the script, I had a feeling that it was a good work. But as an actor, I was gloomy when I thought regarding how I might do it. Obviously, the script was well written, but I mightn’t hear my voice (in the script). I was worried. I thought that I would be able to see ‘Woo Young-woo’ that they did, but the director and the writer waited for it. To be honest, it was a lot of pressure.”
“After finishing the filming of ‘Love Myself’, I actually only had two weeks to prepare for ‘Woo Young-woo’. There was a great sense of urgency that I might not waste time.
-
Although there was not enough time to prepare the character, Park Eun-bin did not take an easy path. She did not imitate the autism spectrum disorder acting she played by others. She didn’t even reference the documentary. She thought that by imitating people with autism spectrum disorder and their families, she might be acting with their real life as a means.
“The writer, director, and advisory professor built the script so solidly. I received the help of three people. I listened to their thoughts on Youngwoo’s feelings and prepared it. Since I am a familiar person, I studied information related to autism spectrum disorder and its judgment criteria.”
“There were a lot of difficult parts while preparing Youngwoo. It looked strange at first glance, but it had to appear unusual to someone. It was difficult on my own because there were many contradictory things, but following many adventures, the youngwoo you saw was completed.”
-
There were a lot of concerns regarding acting Yeong-woo, but Park Eun-bin said that the time spent as Young-woo itself was learning. She thought it was her job as an actress to show her viewers that point.
“I think that Young-woo is much more like an older sister than Park Eun-bin, a person. Young-woo is brave and courageous, and always says ‘I’ll try’, even if there are parts that are scary and uncomfortable. The aspect of courage is much more mature than me. Looking at Young-woo’s life, When accepting people, there is a part where I don’t judge by my own standards. In that regard, I personally learned a lot from Youngwoo.”
“The homework I had to do while playing ‘Woo Young-woo’ was ‘make the viewers on my side’. I thought that was my task as an actor. It wasn’t even necessary, so I hoped it would become a circulation structure where (viewers) might support Youngwoo’s courageous choice.”
-
Another ambush I suffered while playing the genius Yeong-woo was the ambassador for law enforcement. He had to spit out a lot of lines and, above all, mechanically, as if he were opening an encyclopedia.
“Fortunately, since I experienced the role of a judge in the work ‘Lee Judge’s Edition’, I did not have any objection to the provisions of the law. It was a really difficult task because I had to do it as a character. In the process of getting acquainted with Youngwoo, I felt a lot of pressure with Plus Alpha. There was a time in the court scene where I was so harsh that I might describe it as a trauma, and I remember trying to overcome it following that. “
-
There were many difficulties, but thanks to good colleagues, I was able to laugh at the scene. He said that he was able to gain energy by receiving energy from Kang Tae-oh, Kang Ki-young, Ha Yoon-kyung, and Joo Jong-hyuk, who were called ‘Hanbadaz’ and showed honey chemistry with Park Eun-bin.
“First of all, I think the chemistry in ‘Hanbadaz’ was the best. I’m a person who smiles a lot on set and I want to lead the set in a good way, but there were times when I struggled with the scene that continued every day for 7 months while playing Youngwoo. My colleagues filled in my void at the time. When someone blows the fuse during the legal scene, other people quickly charge it, and then the other person charges it once more, helping each other to become each other’s batteries while filming.”
-
Park Eun-bin digested Young-woo and said, “I considered him as my friend, and I dare say that I also felt like I became Young-woo’s parent.” It seems that they have grown together with Yeongwoo for over half a year, and their affection has accumulated. Just as Eunbin Park did to Youngwoo, she thought of her parents, who would have seen Eunbin Park that way she looked at herself. As she thinks of her mother, who has been watching her growth as her mother and manager for regarding 15 years, starting from her childhood days, Eunbin Park brought tears to her eyes.
“Since my mother has been my manager for regarding 14 to 15 years, the part of being a manager more than my mother was huge. So I don’t think he was happy. He must have recognized the complex and subtle emotions that I must have struggled with.”
-
From ‘Like Brahms’ to ‘Love Yourself’, the movie ‘Witch 2’, and ‘Strange Lawyer Woo Young-woo’, Park Eun-bin said, “I’m still not resting,” smiling.
“I’m still 29 years old. Actually, I’m not the type to think regarding the future, but I think that a happy tomorrow awaits me once I get past today. In fact, I mightn’t take a break even following filming ended. I think I will personally take a break, go on a trip, and review my next project. I plan to spend the second half of this year contemplating what kind of image I will show next. Please look forward to it.”
