Former Captain Lee Geun was not the only Korean who left for Ukraine. Eight more people entered Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 18th, it was confirmed that nine South Koreans, including former Captain Lee Geun, entered Ukraine since the 2nd and have not left the country so far.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs estimates that the reason for most of these stays in Ukraine is to join the military. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that efforts were being made to ascertain their whereregardings.
Ukraine is currently a travel warning level 4 ‘no travel’ area. According to the passport law, if you visit a country with level 4 travel warning, you can face up to one year in prison or a fine of 10 million won.
Currently, the number of civilian casualties as well as military personnel continues to rise in Ukraine. In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has repeatedly urged us to “recognize that Ukraine is a wartime country and do not enter the country without permission.”
Meanwhile, former Captain Lee Geun departed for Ukraine to participate in the volunteer army with two of his colleagues earlier this month. Except for Lee, it was confirmed that two of them returned to Korea on the 16th, but former Captain Lee Geun has not yet returned.
