[여론조사②] ‘Seungjo Yang 34.3%, Tae-heum Kim 40.5%’ close battle…Chungbuk and Gangwon have the upper hand

About a week before the local elections in June, three terrestrial broadcasters, including MBC, conducted an opinion poll in the Chungcheongnam-do and Gangwon-do regions.

When asked who they would vote for if they elected the governor of Chungcheongnam-do tomorrow, 34.3% of the Democratic Party’s Yang Seung-jo and 40.5% of the People’s Power Kim Tae-heum were within the margin of error.

In the election for governor of North Chungcheong Province, candidate Roh Young-min of the Democratic Party of Korea scored 27.8% and People’s Strength candidate Kim Young-hwan with 42.8%, leading candidate Kim 15 percentage points ahead of candidate Roh.

By age, those in their 60s and 70s or older supported Kim more, and those in their 40s more support Noh.

In the election for governor of Gangwon-do, Candidate Kim came out 11.2 percentage points higher with Lee Kwang-jae 33.9% and People’s Power Kim Jin-tae 45.1%.

By age group, those in their 30s and 40s supported Lee Kwang-jae more and those in their 60s and 70s supported Kim Jin-tae more.

We also looked at approval ratings for superintendent candidates.

When asked who the superintendent of the Chungcheongnam-do superintendent would choose, the current superintendent Kim Ji-cheol had the highest score at 20.1%, followed by Lee Byung-hak 6%, Kim Young-chun 4.2%, and Cho Young-jong 3.7%.

When asked which candidate they would vote for, 27.4% of conservatives, 25.4% of liberals, and 14.5% of moderates were counted.

In the Chungcheongbuk-do superintendent election, current superintendent Kim Byung-woo received 23.3 percent, candidate Yoon Kun-young 18.7 percent, and candidate Kim Jin-gyun 5.2 percent.

Looking at the approval rating by ideology, 28.9% of the respondents said they would choose a conservative candidate, 25.4% liberal, and 15.1% moderate.

In the Gangwon-do Superintendent’s Election, Shin Kyung-ho 9.4%, Kang Sam-young 5.4%, Yoo Ju-kyun 5.3%, Moon Tae-ho 4.1%, Won Byeong-gwan 2.9%, Min Seong-suk 2.2%, and Jo Baek-song 2.1%.

27.3% of the respondents said they would choose a conservative candidate, 23.6% liberal, and 14.5% centrist.

This survey was conducted for two days from the 14th to the 15th at the request of Korea Research by three broadcasting companies including MBC.
