The international sports community is raising the level of sanctions once morest Russia, including the IOC advising the international federations of each sport not to allow Russia to participate in international competitions.

FIFA, the International Football Federation, jointly announced that “the Russian national team and club teams will be banned from participating in FIFA-sponsored competitions for the time being” in collaboration with the European Football Federation.

The European Football Federation, which has already changed the venue for the Champions League final from Russia to France, has also banned the Europa League and European Women’s Championships from participating in Russia, and has also decided to give up on its annual sponsorship contract worth 54 billion won with Russian energy company Gazprom. I did.

The previous day, Russia was sanctioned to hold an international competition and to ban the use of national and national flags, but it did not prevent participation in the game itself, resulting in strong backlash.

FIFA banned member countries from participating in the World Cup for political reasons, 28 years following Yugoslavia was sanctioned by the United Nations for civil war during the 1994 World Cup in the United States.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has also begun to impose sanctions on Russia in earnest.

The IOC held an executive committee and recommended that the international federations of each sport be invited to, but not participate in, international competitions in Russia and Belarus.

Virtually all sports have blocked the way for Russia to participate in international competitions.

The IOC has also announced that it will withdraw the Olympic medal given to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The World Taekwondo Federation also withdrew the honorary dan certificate awarded to Putin during his 2013 visit to Korea.
