The lights of the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of France, are expected to be turned off regarding an hour earlier than now due to energy shortages due to gas supply restrictions in Russia.
The Guardian newspaper reported this week that the Paris City Hall will present a plan this week to turn off the lights of the Eiffel Tower, which are currently on until 1 am, at 11:45 pm.
The Eiffel Tower is illuminated by 20,000 light bulbs for 5 minutes every hour following sunset.
The report comes as Russia is heavily restricting the amount of energy it exports to Europe in response to Western sanctions.
