[국제]’North Korean nuclear’ that was possible with US-China cooperation, now ‘not working’ as North Korea’s nuclear test is imminent

[앵커]

Even with North Korea’s imminent nuclear test, the confrontation between the United States and China is intensifying.

A US-China defense ministers meeting is likely to take place sometime this weekend, but the prospects for the meeting are bleak.

China has recently rebutted allegations that Canadian patrol aircraft were threatened while monitoring sanctions once morest North Korea.

They said they were cracking down on North Korean ships, and they responded fairly by conducting close reconnaissance in the East China Sea.

China protested, saying that safeguarding its sovereignty takes precedence over UN Security Council resolutions.

On the 26th, China mobilized Australian patrol aircraft and evicted them from reconnaissance activities in the South China Sea.

In Japan, which is considering dispatching defense officials to Taiwan, Yang Jietsu, a member of the Politburo, put a direct check on it.

During a phone call with National Security Director Takeo Akiba, he expressed concern over the great challenges to relations between the two countries.

China is putting pressure on Japan and Australia, which are participating in the US siege of China, outright.

At least Taiwan and the surrounding waters are in a position to be protected.

[자오리젠 / 중국 외교부 대변인 : (호주는) 유사한 위험한 도발 행위를 중단하고 해공군 병력의 행동을 엄격히 통제하지 않으면 그로 인한 모든 후과를 감당해야 할 것입니다.]

Under these circumstances, the US-China defense ministers’ meeting expected this weekend does not seem to have much effect.

In particular, in relation to North Korea’s nuclear test, China has drawn a line in advance, saying it opposes further sanctions once morest North Korea.

At one time, the North Korean nuclear issue was considered a possible area for cooperation between the US and China, but now that North Korea’s nuclear test is imminent, the prospect of cooperation is uncertain.
