The World Expo, commonly called the Expo, is counted as one of the world’s three major events, along with the Olympics and the World Cup.
Korea is challenging to host the 2030 World Expo.
So far, only six countries have hosted all three major events: the United States, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Italy.
It has a longer period than the Olympics and World Cup and has a greater impact, attracting tourists and economically superior.
If Busan succeeds in attracting the fair, it is estimated that 34.8 million visitors will be expected, and the economic effect will reach KRW 61 trillion.
The fair is divided into a five-year cycle of registered world fairs and smaller accredited trade fairs in between.
Korea has only managed to attract accredited expositions such as the 1993 Daejeon Expo and the 2012 Yeosu Expo.
As neighboring countries China and Japan hosted the World Expo, the government decided to gather capabilities to raise national prestige.
To this end, the bid committee, which was operated by the private and private sectors, was combined and expanded and reorganized into a bid committee directly under the Prime Minister.

Currently, Busan is competing with Rome, Italy, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Odessa, Ukraine.
With the first meeting of the public-private joint bid committee as a signal, the domestic political and business circles entered into an all-out battle for bids until November next year, when the venue for the World Expo is decided.
