Born in Yaritagua in 1867, andDr. Eladio del Castillo planted his heart in Barquisimeto and it was in this city where he excelled in his profession and his multiple occupations. He graduated as a doctor from the Central University of Venezuela in 1891

Shortly following graduating, he establishes his office in Barquisimeto and he remains the rest of his life in this city where he gave his best. His greatest pride is occupying in this city the house where the Liberator Simón Bolívar spent the night.

Among his contributions is the inauguration of several educational establishments, including the Wohnsiedler College and the Barquisimeto College. He also taught at the Divina Pastora Seminary of Barquisimeto in collaboration with Monsignor Enrique María Dubuc.

Doctor Eladio del Castillo was a man versed not only in science, he was also a renowned astronomer, paleontologist, botanist and polyglot. He served as director of the Federal College of Barquisimeto, important establishment of this town and spoke perfectly French, Italian, German, Latin, Greek and Esperanto. He was also the founder of the Bolivar Library in Barquisimeto.

In 1939 El Impulso published the recognition granted by the Ministry of Education. Long was the life of this honorable citizen, an example to follow for his countrymen, who following a long and fruitful existence, died on January 20, 1960.
