Aware of the difficulties involving taxes and vehicle licensing throughout the country, the company Zul Digital, da Estaparannounced the expansion of its operations to the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio Grande do Sul, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso and Ceará, seeking to take its services of consultation and payment of taxes (IPVA and licensing) and fines to more places in Brazil.

Walking in accordance with current legislation is essential to drive without worries, and for that, the requirements go beyond the carrying of the CNH (National Driver’s License) within the validity period. Being up to date with fines, IPVA and licensing is something that demands the attention of drivers. Only in São Paulo, 17.9 million of vehicles are required to pay the Property Tax on Motor Vehicles (IPVA), which is the second largest source of revenue in the state.

As for the other documentation, the Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate (CRLV) is a document that must be carried for the vehicle to circulate within the permits and, with the need for annual issuance, since May 8, 2020, it has become possible to obtain licensing digitally.

In view of this panorama of attention to such specific bureaucracies, companies in the urban mobility segment are looking for alternatives that facilitate compliance with the rules by drivers. Founded in 2016, Zul Digital is a startup active in the sector and develops technologies with the purpose of making life easier for Brazilian drivers. Currently, the company has almost 4 million users of its Zul+ application. In 2022, the company was acquired by Estapar and has been accelerating its expansion to more cities and states.

André Brunetta, Director of Digital and Innovation at Estapar, affirms the need for facilitation in dealing with vehicle tax and fee schedules. “And we still have the fines, which can be municipal, state or even federal. Therefore, gathering all this and many other services in the same application is useful for those who have a car or motorcycle”, he adds.

In addition to taxes and fines, Zul+ is also reaching more and more municipalities with the rotating parking service – or Zona Azul, as it is better known. The app was already available in 7 cities, including Salvador, Fortaleza, Belo Horizonte and Curitiba. Now, there are 14 new municipalities: Americana, Araraquara, Itatiba, Jacareí, Limeira, Mogi das Cruzes, Rio Claro, Santa Bárbara d’Oeste, Santo André, São Carlos, São Bernardo do Campo, São João da Boa Vista and Taubaté in the State from São Paulo, in addition to Juiz de Fora (MG).

“Zul+ is already a digital platform aimed at drivers in Brazil. Now, we are accelerating our expansion to more and more states and municipalities. With this advance, and the launch of new services, the entry of new users is starting to grow a lot, in a potential market of around 60 million cars and 25 million motorcycles”, concludes Brunetta.
