ZTE almost found its end in the smartphone business a few years ago. The company was added to the US Entity List and had to stop using technologies and software related to the US. Unlike Huawei, ZTE did not have the resources to continue to establish itself in the smartphone market. A few months later, the Trump administration changed its stance and allowed ZTE to return following a series of changes and a testing period. Now, the testing is over and ZTE is free to retain its legacy in the smartphone market. Even in the testing period, the company managed to do some pretty impressive things. For example, ZTE launched Axon 10 series as the world’s first 5G smartphone.
Then, with the ZTE Axon 20, the company introduced the world’s first commercially available under-display camera. Last year, the company unveiled a new generation of these cameras. Now, it is preparing the terrain for a new generation of this technology within the ZTE Axon 40 series. Today, one device that belongs to the lineup – the ZTE Axon 40 Pro – has decided to appear in some shots.
ZTE Axon 40 Pro – punch-hole display and quad camera setup
Next week, ZTE will present to the world at least three new smartphones. There is a ZTE Axon 40 vanilla, ZTE Axon 40 Pro, and an Ultra variant. Today, the 40 Pro decided to appear in a series of hands-on images that reveal its design. Previous reports were already accurate, and this variant will bring a punch-hole camera.
This may be one of the most notable differences between the Vanilla and Ultra variants. After all, these two devices are set with selfie cameras at the bottom of the screen. Despite the traditional perforated panel, the device offers slim mounting spots with distinct curves on both sides.
Previous leaks suggest that the ZTE Axon 40 Pro is the renamed Nubia Z40 Pro. Apparently, this is not entirely the case as the device has a completely different camera design. There are four cameras spread across two large circular pieces. They sit inside a large rectangle. The main snapper is the 100MP, which happens to be Samsung’s ISOCELL HM2 snapper. The device will also offer PDAF, laser autofocus, and optical image stabilization. There must be an ultra-fast snapper and a telephoto snapper. There is no periscope snapper, but users can expect a few levels of optical zoom. Rumors also say that this phone will come with a dedicated security chip to provide hardware level protection.
The device will likely come with fast charging technology, a large battery, and Android 12 outright. The ZTE Axon 40 Ultra is slated to come with three 64MP cameras.
