Zottos warns that the medical career in Salta is in danger – Diario de Tartagal

The former national deputy Andrés Zottos, one of the managers of the Medicine career at the National University of Salta, expressed his concern regarding the medicine career and other careers in the interior due to the conflicts and confrontations that have arisen with the new authorities.
The former deputy governor highlighted the importance of the Career in Salta and pointed out that “the creation of the Medicine Career at the UNSa, which cost so much to the past management and the past rectory, and all the steps taken to stop depending on the National University of Tucuman”.
Zottos did not rule out that it might be an internal one between the current management of the Rector’s Office and the previous one, in which some “are trying to take away funds and not let it work” and added “they should have met with the deans, with the directors of the headquarters of the Interior and agree, tell them what is the purpose of the creation of the Faculty of Medicine, how the budget issue was going to be faced, which means important expenses, and how the money is going to be obtained. Also what will happen to the building because today there is no building for the Faculty of Medicine. It is that these are the authorities that, ultimately, direct each academic unit; and then it goes to the Superior Council.”
Zottos recalled that the career has been operating within the orbit of the Faculty of Health Sciences since its creation in 2015, during the rectorship of Víctor Claros, in which he actively participated. “It must be said that the Faculty of Health Sciences was at the height of the circumstances at that time, it behaved correctly, and until the Faculty of Medicine is discussed and created, the career might continue within that faculty”, held. And he thought that one option would be to use, meanwhile, the abandoned building of the former Palúdica until one is built; “There is a precedent, I was studying to be an accountant and we took all humanistic careers in Humanities, which worked within the Faculty of Economic Sciences. It was like this for more than 30 years because they didn’t have a building, with the previous rector Víctor Claro we got more than 100 million pesos a year for the first to sixth year. But now that we don’t depend on the National University of Tucumán, the 7th year still didn’t get a budget”.
Zottos clarified that the creation of the Faculty of Medicine, “would also allow it to be taken to the interior, to Tartagal, Orán, Metán, which would give growth to these areas with the professionals we need and alleviate the bottleneck that occurs in the city of Salta to have good health care, because everything is derived here and a lot of money comes out to the province”.
Lastly, Zottos emphasized, “I am going to speak with the Governor so that he is the one who raises this flag and if necessary I will go to my relations to speak with Minister Sergio Massa himself or the Chief of Staff Juan Manzur. We cannot put personal or political pettiness into this,” Zottos concluded.
