Surprisingly, a Detroit Police Department representative stated in an official announcement that no severe injuries resulted from the collision.

The reason for the accident remains undetermined.

Authorities are investigating the episode as a hit-and-run, as the SUV’s driver and a passenger fled the scene, according to Deputy Chief Rudy Harper. No apprehensions have been made.

Exterior surveillance video shows a gray SUV turning into the parking lot.

Without warning, the SUV accelerates, navigating between parked vehicles before smashing through Zorba’s window.

‘HIT AND RUN’

The vehicle’s operator eventually reverses. He exits the vehicle and departs the location.

Bystanders are observed confronting the driver as his companion takes the wheel and reverses the SUV further.

Meanwhile, the driver is observed walking past the restaurant, briefly appearing distraught.

Interior footage of the restaurant at the moment of impact, initially shared on Twitter, depicts startled patrons and employees scrambling for safety as the vehicle crashes through the window.

A man is propelled from a booth by the vehicle’s impact, yet remarkably avoids serious injury and escapes to safety.

At least three additional customers seemed to have been struck by the vehicle and the subsequent debris.

‘ALARMING’

The terrified cries of staff and customers are audible as the vehicle reverses from the storefront.

A woman sandwiched between the vehicle and the counter is seen tapping on the window to signal for assistance.

In an official statement, Harper described the sequence of events as “troubling” in a communication with WXYZ.

“The footage is deeply unsettling, to put it mildly,” he stated.

“The individuals involved clearly demonstrate a disregard for human life and must do what is right by surrendering to law enforcement immediately. “

The Detroit Police Department has been contacted for additional details.

The truck driver eventually backs up. He then gets out of the vehicle and begins to walk away from the scene in the opposite direction.Zorba’s Coney Island Crash in Detroit
