Human health and animal health: interconnected for better and worse

The interactions between human health and animal health are numerous and complex, and new questions are constantly emerging at their interface. At ANSES, many scientists devote their daily lives to it. Because taking care of the health of some is taking care of the health of all – Men, animals, ecosystems – and that it is important to act without delay, these podcasts offer a spotlight on research and scientific advances that might help prevent the risks of tomorrow.

Will zoonoses like Covid-19 intensify? Will we have to reverse the path and promote the wilding of animals rather than their domestication? To try to answer all these questions, the Agency brought together scientists from all walks of life: veterinarians, biologists, epidemiologists, sociologists, microbiologists… from ANSES and elsewhere.

A series of 5 episodes of anticipation, in partnership with The Conversation

Stemming from an idea from ANSES, the Zootopique series was developed and produced in collaboration with the independent media The Conversation and the Moustic Studio agency.

The five episodes, which alternate fictitious reports propelling the listener into 2031 and today’s interviews conducted by journalist Benoit Tonson, address the following themes:

Episode 1 : Humans sick of animals with Elodie Monchatre-Leroy and Nicolas Eterradossi (ANSES) and Benjamin Roche (IRD – Research Institute for Development)

Episode 2 : Still carnivorous tomorrow? With Gilles Salvat (Anses) and Geneviève Cazes-Valette (Toulouse Business School)

Episode 3 : Alert on ticks and all that stings! With Sara Moutailler and Johanna Fite (ANSES) and Marie Vazeille (Pastor Institute)

Episode 4 : The silence of the bees… with Marie-Pierre Chauzat and Philippe Reignault (ANSES) and Benoît Geslin (University of Aix Marseille)

Episode 5 : Changing our view of animals with François Moutou and Pascal Boireau (Anses), Isabelle Autran (University of Nanterre) and Astrid Guillaume (University of the Sorbonne)

See you in 2031, in a world where mosquitoes help fight Alzheimer’s, where the concept of a shared cow has emerged and where a jar of honey is worth the price of a work of art!

zootopic is available today on podcast listening platformsas well as on the digital media of ANSES and its partners.
