On Mac, the latest version of Zoom don’t turn off the computer microphone following a call to several users. This bug affects the videoconferencing software under macOS Monterey, where it is easy to know if an application is using the microphone: an orange magnifying glass appears in the menu bar (which is not without problem for some professions).
The bug was reported by users following Monterey was released last fall, while at the very end of December, Zoom uploaded a update which fixed this problem of the microphone remaining open following a meeting. However, this patch did not solve the problem for everyone, as raised The Register.
The best solution at the moment seems to be to quit the app completely when not in use. Zoom told the site it would look into what’s going on, without specifying when a possible fix for the patch will be available.
