Zinder region: Vaccination campaign against cholra in the health districts of Magaria and Mirriah

The Governor of Zinder, Laouali Amadou Madougou chaired, on Monday January 10, 2022 May Damoussa, in the Urban Commune of Magaria, the launch ceremony of the vaccination campaign once morest cholra in the health districts of Mirriah and Magaria.

The Zinder region has been experiencing an upsurge in potentially epidemic diseases for some time, including meningitis, measles and cholra.

With regard to Cholra, the region of Zinder recorded from July November 2021, 609 cases with 21 deaths.

This epidemic concerned 6 health districts of which the most affected are Magaria and Mirriah with respectively 150 cases and 426 recorded cases of which the most affected age groups are those of 5, 14 years and 15 years and over, declared the Governor Amadou Laouali Madougou. .

A total of 258,362 people over the age of one year will be affected and will receive the oral vaccine.

To make this campaign a success, the heads of townships and groups, heads of villages and neighborhoods, community relays as well as community radios have been involved in spreading awareness messages in favor of vaccination.

The Governor of Zinder urged everyone to appropriate this activity so that the mobilization and adhesion of the populations concerned is a given for a successful campaign.

Previously, the Prefect of Magaria and the Honorable Sultan of Damagaram took turns to take the floor to rejoice at the holding of this campaign initiated by the authorities of the 7th Republic with the support of development partners including MSF, UNICEF and WHO to overcome this disease which continues to claim victims.

They made an urgent appeal to the grassroots communities to invest in the success of this vast operation.
