At its 47th congress in early April, UEFA set up a football think tank headed by former Croatian footballer Zvonimir Boban to come up with ideas to improve the game and ” save “ football. The list of personalities who make up this council of elders was revealed by the Spanish media Brand, which includes Zinedine Zidane as the sole French representative alongside 19 other big names such as José Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and Luis Figo. The first mission of this council should relate to the question of arbitration, in particular on the faults of hand in the surface which arouse controversies every week.
The first meeting of this council will take place on 24 April at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin had earlier announced that all major football managers and former players would be invited to attend, without giving names. This advice will aim to find solutions to improve the game and make it more attractive to fans while clarifying the rules of the game that are problematic.
