The Lebanese artist, Ziad Bourji, announced his victory once more over his compatriot Elissa, in the case of the song “Batir”.
Burji said in a statement: “Lawyer Jean Qikano informed us that the judge of urgent matters in Dubai / United Arab Emirates issued a decision on 8/15/2023, ruling to dismiss the lawsuit filed by the plaintiff Elissar El Khoury (Elisa) once morest Ziad Al-Burji because the court did not have qualitative jurisdiction. “.
The lawsuit filed by Elissa once morest Ziad Burji and the poet Ahmed Madi came because of what she considered the duo’s infringement of the property rights of the song “Ana Wabis / Batir”, and the duo refused to stop broadcasting the song.
Burji’s lawyer, Jean Qikano, went to the UAE on August 6, and the first court session was held on August 8, and the verdict was issued today, Tuesday.
On the tenth of last July, the media office of the artist, Ziad Burji, announced his victory over Elisa in the case of the song “Batir”, following the court accepted the appeal of the previous ruling submitted by Burji.
According to the statement published by Burji’s media office, it confirms that he obtained the right from the court to sing and publish the song “Batir”, which Elissa previously performed under the title “Anna W Bass”.
The Lebanese artist wrote at the time on his Twitter account: “Lawyer Jean Qikano informed us that the Court of Appeal, according to a ruling issued by it on today’s date, enshrined Ziad Burji’s right to perform and publish the song “Batir”, following it ruled to suspend the implementation of the decision of the judge of urgent matters in Al-Matn, who had withheld this from him. formerly right.
He also shared, through his account on “Instagram”, a video bearing the melody of the song “Batir”, and he said: “With all humility.. with a melody.. with singing.. with a proverb.. and a bird.”
It is noteworthy that the dispute between Elissa and Burji began when the latter performed the song “Anna Wabis” and published it under the title “Batir”, so Elisa considered that a clear violation of the intellectual rights of the song.
Elissa filed a lawsuit once morest Burji, and the first ruling was issued in her favor, as it ruled that Burji was prevented from publishing and singing the song, and in case he violated the law, he would be fined five thousand dollars.
Elissa announced the verdict in her favor by tweeting: “After the Lebanese judiciary is fine with the presence of honest and honorable judges, the truth has been made clear, “I am only” “It is only me! .. All thanks to my legal representative, Attorney Mark Habakah, who believes in my case and in my right and challenged falsehood And give me my right….. Nothing is true except what is true.”
However, Ziyad Burji appealed the ruling issued at the time and won the case.
