Zhou Guanyu and Yuki Tsunoda set up an octopus dance “I need new pants” / F1 Monaco GP Radio[F1-Gate .com]

Alfa Romeo F1 Zhou Guanyu said he was so scared that he “needed new pants” when he lost control behind Yuki Tsunoda at the Monaco Grand Prix chicane.

Zhou Guanyu, who started the Monaco Grand Prix from the last grid, moved up to 13th place with an aggressive run. However, when the race was interrupted by the red flag caused by Mick Schumacher’s crash, he retreated to 16th place at the pit stop.

When the race resumed, Zhou Guanyu competed with Yuki Tsunoda for a position. Then, following passing through the tunnel at the tail to nose, Zhou Guanyu moved to the left toward Nouvelle Sykane to pull Yuki Tsunoda from the inside, where he was greatly disturbed.

Zhou Guanyu jokingly told the team, “I need new pants following this.”

“The inside was very damp and there wasn’t much slipstream available,” Zhou Guanyu explained.

“Probably one of the closest laps to Yuuki, and I had to jump inside at the last minute.”

“Unfortunately he tried to cover a bit, and at that moment I hit a wet patch trying to avoid it. It was important to stay there on the track.”

Zhou Guanyu lost his position to Williams’ Nicholas Latifi following cutting the chicane and running straight through.

“It wasn’t that cool in the cockpit. It was pretty scary. I wasn’t sure. But it would be fun to watch the replay.”

Zhou Guanyu admits that his first Monaco Grand Prix on an F1 car was a “tough” experience.

“It was a tough race. I think it was one of the toughest races, but I was able to experience various conditions,” commented Zhou Guanyu.

“I think the experience of Monaco will make the wet a little better on a regular race track.”
