On April 24th, the WTA500 Stuttgart, an important stop of the clay season, ended the women’s doubles final. Chinese player Zhang Shuai and American star Gauff unfortunately lost to Krautsk and Scholes in two sets and won the runner-up. This is the first time Zhang Shuai has reached the doubles final in this year’s clay court season, and he started the clay court season with the runner-up.
This time in Stuttgart, Zhang Shuai collaborated with American player Gauff for the first time. In the previous semi-finals, Zhang Shuai and Gao Fu defeated No. 4 seeds Shuzi Aoyama/Zhan Haoqing 6-2, 6-3, and reached the final for the first time together. This is Zhang Shuai’s first doubles final this season and her third WTA clay court women’s doubles final in her career.
In the final, Zhang Shuai and Gao Fu played once morest No. 2 seeds Krautzke and Scholes.
