    Zhan Beleniuk became the bronze medalist of the 2024 Olympic Games in Greco-Roman wrestling up to 87 kg. This was announced by the head of Poltava OVA Philip Pronin.

    “Our athlete defeated the representative of Poland, Arkadiusz Kulynych, with a score of 3:1. After the fight, Jean took off the wrestlers, which indicates the end of his sports career. Congratulations! We are proud!” – said Philip Pronin.

    33-year-old Zhan Beleniuk is the Tokyo 2021 Olympic champion and the silver medalist in Rio 2016. For the Ukrainian, this is the last Olympics in his career. According to the Olympic champion, after the Games in Paris, he wants to concentrate on public affairs.

    “It is difficult for me to imagine myself and the state in 5 years. I am currently an active athlete, but in a week I will probably retire. At the same time, I work in the Ukrainian parliament, so I definitely have something to do at the moment. We want the war to end on Ukrainian terms. Restoring our economy. The return of millions of Ukrainians home, because the second is connected with the third. We would like to receive security guarantees from our partners. If there is such an enemy as the Russian Federation in the neighborhood, which will constantly try to kill you, then only serious security guarantees will give us the opportunity to count on a normal, stable life in our country,” Zhana Beleniuk told reporters.

    We will remind you that Poltava Oblast will be represented at the Olympic Games by seven athletes: Lyudmila Luzan, Igor Trunov, Oleg Kukharik, Pavlo Altukhov (kayaking and canoeing); Oleksandr Khizhnyak (boxing); Zhan Beleniuk (Greco-Roman wrestling); Maksym Horodynets (ball shooting).
