ZF and Volta Trucks have entered into a long-term agreement to supply components and systems. The fully electric Volta Zero from ZF will be equipped with the On Guard Active emergency braking system, the electronic braking system including the brake pedal box, the ESC smart electronic stability control and the On Hand electro-pneumatic handbrake. The lane departure warning system On Lane Alert as well as the steering system components including the steering column and the steering gear are also included. The Opti Ride ECAS electronic air suspension system allows automatic and manual adjustments to the chassis height when docking and loading.
In addition, Volta equips the Zero with the IFS axle system from ZF, an independent front suspension. With the space-saving design, the low cab layout allows for easy entry and exit and improved driver visibility, just like the Volta Zero brings. A wide range of variants of the new RL 82 ET axle with different wishbones supports installation in vehicles with a width of 2.30 to 2.60 meters and an axle load of up to 8.2 tons. Also available is the RL 80 ET model, which meets the specific requirements of the North American market in terms of vehicle widths and wheel sizes.
Depending on the tires, a steering angle of up to 56 degrees is possible. The IFS axle system IFS improves driving safety through high tracking properties and cornering stability. It also eliminates unwanted bumps and brake steering influences. Due to the excellent roll stiffness, anti-roll bars are no longer required in most cases. (awm)
