Dubai: Public transport in Dubai will be pollution free by 2050. The plan is to make all public transport service vehicles like buses, taxis, limousines electric or hydrogen powered.

For this, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has created a project called Zero Emission Public Transportation in Dubai. The goal is to reduce carbon pollution and mitigate climate change. Buildings and related facilities will be made garbage free.

Reforms are being implemented in all sectors as part of making Dubai one of the best cities and economies in the world. Energy from renewable energy sources will become widespread. A phased strategy has been formulated to eliminate carbon pollution by 2050 in 3 sectors namely public transport, buildings and facilities and waste management. 10% of public transport buses will be converted to electric and hydrogen within 7 years.

20% in 2035, 40% in 2040, 80% in 2045 and 100% in 2050, the emirate will become pollution free.

It also aims to achieve energy self-sufficiency within 2 years by installing solar panels in 24 buildings under RTA. 74% of buildings will be renovated within 7 years. It will increase to 83 percent by 2035 and 100 percent by 2045. With this, all the street lights in Dubai will be converted to solar energy.
