Zelenskyy says Ukrainian forces are holding their ground in Kursk

Zelensky’s statement comes after the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday that it had recaptured two villages in the region. Ukrainian forces entered Kursk in August.

– Regarding the operation in Kursk, Russia tried to push our forces back, but we are holding the defined lines, said the President of Ukraine in his daily video speech on Saturday.

He has acknowledged that the offensive against Kursk was aimed at drawing Russian forces away from the front in eastern Ukraine, where the Russians have made steady progress in recent months.

In the video speech, Zelenskyj says that conditions are very difficult in the regions of Donetsk and Zaporizhzhya, which are partly under Russian control.

– The enemy carries out crude actions, and the resilience of our units is crucial. Everything depends on our ability to resist, says the president.

In Saturday’s speech, he also says that with the help of Western investment, he will significantly expand the country’s weapons production.

– Our industrial capacity enables us to produce far more drones, artillery shells and military equipment than the country’s economic capacity allows, he says. Zelenskyj says Western partners can contribute financially, especially since many of them do not have enough weapons to dispose of.
