LONDON (AP) — Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Britain on Monday as Kiev’s close ally prepared to provide more military aid in an effort to turn the tide of the war.

The British government confirmed Zelenskyy’s arrival on Monday and said he would meet Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.

It was the fourth European country that Zelenskyy had visited in recent days. On Sunday followingnoon he made an unannounced visit to Paris to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron, following traveling to Germany and Italy, where he met the leaders of both countries and Pope Francis.

“Today London. Britain leads the way when it comes to expanding our capacity on the ground and in the air. This cooperation will continue today. I will meet my friend Rishi. We will have in-depth negotiations face to face and in delegations,” indicated a message shared Monday on Zelenskyy’s official Telegram account.

Sunak’s office said the two leaders would meet at Checkers, the prime minister’s country home outside London. It is Zelenskyy’s second trip to Britain since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022.
