Zelensky warns mercenaries joining the Russian army: ‘The worst decision of your life will be’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned mercenaries attempting to join the Russian army in Ukraine that “joining them will be the worst decision of your life”.

According to CNN, President Zelensky emphasized in a video posted on Facebook that night, saying, “Long life is better than money offered in a short life.”

He continued, ‘We have information that the Russian army is recruiting mercenaries from other countries,’ and ‘this will not help them.’

He added that Ukrainian forces were still defending all major areas despite Russian artillery fire.

“We didn’t want this war,” he said to the Russian people. “We want only peace,” he said. “We want you to love your children more than fear the (Putin) regime.”

Meanwhile, following speaking to parliamentarians in the UK, Canada and the US, he also addressed the German parliament on the same day.

“We will continue our dialogue with our partner countries,” he said. “I feel that we are increasingly understood by the world.”

The British Ministry of Defense said earlier that intelligence officers had learned that Russia was recruiting specialized combat mercenaries from across Russia, saying it had suffered constant losses in the Ukraine war.
