Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, dismisses the head of the secret service and the general prosecutor

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky sacked two key figures in his security services on Sunday, his cabinet announced.

They are Ivan Bakanov who had been head of the secret service since 2019 and Irina Venediktova who was the general prosecutor. She will be replaced by her deputy. The name of Ivan Bakanov’s successor is not yet known

No reason was given for this double dismissal.
