Zelensky fears something ‘particularly cruel’ from Russia this week
August 24 will be a doubly special day for Ukraine. The country will celebrate, on Wednesday, the independence of the country, proclaimed on August 24, 1991.
This national holiday will correspond, to the day, to the sixth month of invasion of the country by the Russian army.
In his video address of the evening on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky referred to this “milestone”.
“Since February 24, during these 178 days, Ukrainians have proven that our people are invincible, our fighters are invincible”did he declare.
“For Ukraine’s victory, we still have to fight, we still have to do a lot, we still have to persevere and endure, unfortunately, a lot of pain”he added, warning his people of a potentially difficult week:
We have to be aware that this week Russia might try to do something particularly heinous, something particularly cruel. So is our enemy. In every week of the past six months, Russia has always acted in a disgusting and cruel way.
