Ukraine said that its forces repelled Russian attacks along the front line yesterday, on the eve of the first anniversary of the beginning of the war, while Russian President Vladimir Putin once more hinted at the worst scenario by deploying Sarmat ballistic missiles and his country’s nuclear arsenal.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed his confidence in victory, as he said on social media: “We have not been broken, we have overcome many trials and we will prevail. We will hold accountable all those who brought this evil, this war to our land, all this terror, killing, torture and looting.” He added that Russia chose “the path of the criminal, the path of the terrorist, the path of the executioner, the path of the plunderer” by launching this war, stressing that this “choice that came at the state level” requires “responsibility at the state level for the terrorism committed.”
Earlier, Putin announced the suspension of his country’s participation in the recent “START” treaty to limit nuclear weapons. He said, “As before, we will pay increased attention to strengthening the nuclear triad,” referring to the possibility of launching nuclear missiles from land, sea, and air.
In turn, US President Joe Biden’s administration is considering revealing intelligence regarding China’s plans to supply Russia with weapons to support its war in Ukraine. After the start of the Russian military build-up near Ukraine, the Biden administration published an unprecedented amount of declassified intelligence regarding Moscow’s military plans and arms trade with Iran.
