Zelensky: His plan to end the conflict “is not about negotiations with Russia”

“I think we are closer to peace than we think, we are closer to the end of the war,” Zelensky added.

But despite his talk of the armed conflict “coming to an end,” Zelensky continued to demand that Western partners strengthen the Ukrainian army and supply more weapons to his regime.

It is noteworthy that Zelensky said during the interview that his plan to end the conflict “is not related to negotiations with Russia.”

“This is a bridge to the diplomatic path to end the war. The plan for victory is to strengthen Ukraine and the Ukrainian army,” Zelensky continued.

Earlier, Zelensky said he had a plan to end the conflict, and indicated that he would discuss the details of his plan with US President Joe Biden, because there are points that depend on Washington’s decision, adding that the plan is designed for quick decisions by partners.

Biden and US Vice President Kamala Harris will meet with Zelensky in Washington on September 26.

For his part, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov indicated that the Kremlin treats publications in the media about Zelensky’s plan with caution, but will study them if they appear in official sources.

Earlier, President Vladimir Putin put forward an initiative for a peaceful settlement in Ukraine. The initiative stipulates that Russia will declare an immediate ceasefire and its readiness to negotiate as soon as Ukrainian troops withdraw from the entire territory of the new Russian regions.

According to the initiative, Kiev must abandon its efforts to join NATO, carry out a voluntary disarmament process, dismantle the Nazi organizational structures in Ukraine, accept a status of neutrality and non-alignment with any political-military bloc, be free of nuclear weapons, and lift sanctions imposed on Russia.
