Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky urged the European Union in a televised speech today (28th) to grant Ukraine membership immediately.

It has been the fifth day since Russia invaded Ukraine. War broke out in many places in Ukraine, and Zelensky also continued to make inspiring speeches.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen explicitly supported Ukraine’s accession to the EU on the 27th. “They (Ukraine) are one of us and we want them to join.”

In his latest televised speech, Zelensky called on the EU to “immediately grant Ukraine membership through new special procedures”.

Zelensky also expressed gratitude for the support of various countries, but he also emphasized that “our goal is to stand with all Europeans on an equal footing. I believe this is fair and I am sure that it is possible.”
