In a recent interview with the UK’s Channel 4 News, Mr. Zelensky expressed his opinion that former US President Donald Trump’s “eloquent” statements regarding how he might prevent the war between Ukraine and Russia in 24 hours is “very dangerous”. Ukraine’s leader expressed concern that Trump’s idea of a negotiated solution might force Ukraine to make major concessions to Russia for peace.
Previously, President Zelensky invited Mr. Trump to visit Kiev to share his plan to end the war between Ukraine and Russia.
The Ukrainian leader also shared concerns that the US government under Donald Trump might take unilateral actions without considering Ukraine’s perspective, and noted the lack of detailed information surrounding ” Trump’s peace plan.
“(Mr. Trump) will make the decision himself without caring regarding either side, without caring regarding us. I saw many victims and it was a bit scary. Because even if his ideas (to end the war) were not suitable for us, for our people, he would still do anything to carry them out. This worries me a bit.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung did not respond to a message seeking comment on the Russian leader’s latest statements.
Trump has repeatedly asserted that he is qualified to negotiate an end to the nearly two-year war in Ukraine and said he has good relationships with both Russian and Ukrainian leaders. Throughout his political career, Trump has often praised President Vladimir Putin, even following the Russian leader launched a military campaign in Ukraine in February 2022.
