In the videoconference, which lasted regarding an hour, Zelensky expressly mentioned the field of energy as one of those that might be conducive to the imposition of sanctions and called for an increase in military aid for the Ukrainian military forces, reports the American television CNN.

“Zelenski has thanked the United States for its help and has asked for more support in security matters,” explained a Senate source quoted by the newspaper ‘The New York Post’.

Another senator present on the video call explained that Zelensky has called for an embargo on Russian oil, suspending all commercial transactions — including Visa and Mastercard — and has “implored” the sending of more fighter planes that might be piloted by Ukrainian pilots.

When the call is over, dozens of congressmen have activated their microphones to thank Zelenski and some have even affirmed “Slava Ukraini”, “Glory to Ukraine”, a gesture that has moved Zelenski.

The entire Senate and the Ukrainian Caucus of the House of Representatives were invited to the event. It is the first conversation between Zelensky and US congressmen since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24.
