Shortly before, Boric stated that he had spoken with Zelensky, before whom he reaffirmed his intention to support the condemnation of the Russian invasion.
“I just spoke with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to whom I expressed my solidarity and our willingness to support the condemnations of the invasion in international organizations,” said President Gabriel Boric through his Twitter account. “The 18 killed today in Odessa by the Russian attack are unacceptable.”
On the same day, Zelensky also contacted the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández, who expressed his condemnation of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and offered him additional humanitarian aid.
During the conversation, which lasted 35 minutes, Fernández maintained his “support for all the negotiations that may be undertaken for the cessation of hostilities and the search for a dialogue that urgently leads to peace,” the Argentine Presidency said in a statement.
The Argentine head of state also “ratified Argentina’s rejection of the Russian invasion in the same way that it has been doing so in all international forums.”
In his capacity as president this year of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC), Fernández told Zelenski that Latin America is “a continent of peace that rejects the use of force and promotes dialogue to resolve conflicts. ”.
In a message on the social network Twitter, Zelenski said that his contact with Fernández is part of his goal of establishing “relations with an important region: Latin America.”
“I spoke with President Alberto Fernández, I thanked him for the humanitarian aid, the condemnation of Russian aggression and the suspension of Russian membership in the UN Human Rights Council,” the Ukrainian president said.
