A short trip to the Goron village of Zelda via the “Next Gen” remake of Zelda Ocarina of Time in the Unreal Engine; it’s necessarily prettier than in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but not sure if it works on Switch…
For several years, two developers have been competing remotely to propose the best remake of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Remake in the Unreal Engine : on the one hand, CryZENx, which recently delivered a demo of the Mojo Tree available for download; on the other, RwanLink. In both cases, these are long-standing projects: started in Unreal Engine 4, they were then transposed to Unreal Engine 5. In terms of channel popularity, CryZENx wins with its 240,000 subscribers; the YouTube channel of RwanLink counts all the same 99,000 of them. the proof in the video below.
This sequence of regarding twenty minutes presents the village of the Gorons. Those who want to see gameplay straight away and skip the intro cutscene should fast forward to 13 minutes and 45 seconds.
Many other iconic Zelda locations to discover
Difficult to gauge the quality of the two productions on simple videos, and therefore to issue any hierarchy. At first glance, RwanLink production seems to benefit from higher graphics quality, with better effects and higher resolution textures. On the other hand, it is a constant, the frame rate per second does not seem very highwhere CryZENx’s artwork runs smoothly on a laptop PC with an AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 mobile graphics card and 32 GB of DDR4. Firstit is not a computer problem, since that of RwanLink mobilizes an Intel Core i7-10700K and a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 64 GB of RAM.
Also, unlike the CryZENx remake, that of RwanLink is not available for download. To discover more, it is therefore necessary to be satisfied with the sequences proposed by the author. You can consult his channel or directly follow the links present in the description of the video for the areas “Cocorico village”, “Lake Hylia”, “Zora domain” and “Kokiri forest”.
Finally, on the subject of Unreal Engine 5, remember that this version was released from its early access in April 2022. The latest stable version is Unreal Engine 5.2; version 5.3 has been available in preview form for a few days.
