Unveiled by Nintendo Japan’s official website and picked up on Twitter, the music for Link’s next adventure has everyone spellbound.
Since its announcement in September 2022, the sequel to Breath of the Wild has long remained discreet. But Nintendo seemed to have cleverly prepared its plan of attack, aiming for fans right in the heart. First with a long gameplay video, showing off the many new features of what some had long taken for a simple big extension. But as the developers have already mentioned, it is the colossal sum of ideas that came up during the creation of DLC that set up the huge project constituted by this episode in its own right. And this first approach was the perfect demonstration.
Hyrule Rulz!
Then, it was necessary to give this new adventure the epic dimension specific to the games of the license. It was done with the broadcast of the third official trailer, mixing action and spectacular cinematic sequences at will. The music then took up some known codes from the previous game, intertwined with the usual classic chords of the saga. But this first musical approach accompanying the exploits of Link and Zelda, faced with the threat of a Ganondorf more dangerous than ever, was only a sound aperitif of what awaited the most sensitive to the melodies of the world of Hyrule.
Major chords
On Nintendo Japan’s official website, the main theme was indeed posted online, then taken up by the Twittersphere, with an enthusiasm to match this sumptuous melody. It begins with a relative softness, inviting in turn various instruments. Flutes, strings, brass and piano follow one another, before playing together the brand new score of Tears of the Kingdom. One can imagine that it was composed by the quartet of Breath of the WildManaka Kataoka, Yasuaki Iwata, and Soshi Abe, supervised by the legendary Koji Kondo, also at work on Super Mario, the movies.
