As mentioned above, a player took the time to experiment to find out the extent of realism of Breath of the Wild’s weather system. During a significant thunderstorm, a very large puddle formed at a specific location on the map. By returning to this place several times following the rain had passed, the player noticed that the water was gradually drying up, to eventually evaporate almost entirely following 199 days in play, as you can see here:
