Under its interesting design, the Zeekr X hides the same technical elements as the Smart #1 and the future Volvo EX30. This new brand from Chinese Geely is due to arrive in Europe soon
Zeekr is part of the Geely galaxy brands like Volvo, Lynk & Co, Lotus, Polestar or Volvo. In China, it positions itself as a premium manufacturer and already offers two models, the 001 shooting wagon and the astonishing 009 luxury minivan. The X visible in these photos is the brand’s third model, which takes the form of a compact family crossover 4.45 meters long. Its sleek and eye-pleasing design, quite close to the codes of Lynk & Co in a more futuristic variant, hides well-known underwear.
In accordance with the group’s platform synergy policy, the Zeekr X takes over the SEA modular platform from Smart #1, which will also be used by the future Volvo EX30. The X falls into the category of compact models rather than city dwellers, with its length identical to that of the Peugeot 3008. Zeekr does not reveal its technical characteristics for the moment but the machine should use the same engines as the Smart #1 . Customers should therefore be able to choose between a 272 horsepower version and a more powerful variant with more than 400 horsepower. It remains to be seen whether it will use the batteries of its cousin from Smart (66 kWh) or whether it will offer larger accumulators to allow better autonomy.
Soon in Europe
Like Lynk & Co as well as the other Geely brands that have been present for a long time on the Old Continent, Zeekr plans to land in Europe. The X will be marketed from the end of 2023 in China and must first arrive on our continent via the countries of the North. But it will probably be necessary to wait until at least the year 2024 to be able to buy Zeekr in France.
