As part of the “Community Nursing” project, the seniors from Zederhaus now go to the gym together once a week.
When it comes to the topic of health in Zederhaus, Johanna Pfeifenberger has been the first contact person in town since March: “It ranges from advice to home visits. We are well networked in the healthcare sector. Health and quality of life are the focus.” It’s also regarding fitness. “The mood among the seniors is excellent. Seniors are also very welcome.”
Aid agency regional manager Franz Bäckenberger: “Currently we started with the Zederhauser seniors. The enrollment was in the Mygym in Tamsweg. From June they will be training in St. Michael. The aim is that in the future we will have a group from each community.” Toni Klein and Franz Pirker: “Musculature, mobility and memory as well as reactions decrease most with age. That is exactly what we are trying to stop and even build up once more. Success is already noticeable following a few units. The decline in these factors begins, by the way, from the age of 23 . Year of life and gets worse from the age of 60. The vision of this project is a place that becomes a social meeting place for seniors from all over Lungau and where they can do physical exercise together.”
In the Lungau there is Johanna Pfeifenberger (Zederhaus, Muhr and Unternberg), Michaela Zehner (Mauterndorf and Tweng), Bettina Feiel (St. Michael), Magdalena Stolz (Ramingstein, Thomatal and St. Margarethen) Christina Schwarzenbacher (Mariapfarr and St. Andrä ) and Marina Kellner (Göriach, Weißpriach and Lessach) six community nurses. “A great deal is already being implemented in some communities. The core issue is health promotion. The aim is for seniors to be able to grow old healthily at home for as long as possible,” says Franz Bäckenberger.
The European health project “Community Nursing” is now running in Lungau for 28 months until the end of 2024. A budget of around 600,000 euros is available: “We hope that there will be further EU funding followingwards or that the project in general anchored in the federal health budget.”
