ARTE co-production “Naked” wins Grand Award at New York Festival (PHOTO)

The 6-part documentary series “Naked” received the Grand Award main prize in the category “Human Concerns” at this year’s New York Festival TV & Film Awards.
Everything is changing between the sexes: traditions are eroding, boundaries are blurring. There are numerous voices and perspectives – time to talk, ask questions and above all: listen. The documentary series focuses on the questions “What does it mean to be born a girl or a boy, to live as a man or a woman or to be non-binary? How does gender determine our lives? What is changing and why?”
Over a hundred interviews were conducted around the world.
A wide variety of people open doors and hearts and renowned researchers discuss how gender perspectives have shaped humanity and what we know regarding sex and gender today.
“We are pleased regarding this recognition for an extraordinary production that negotiates a hotly debated topic without foaming at the mouth. Multi-perspective, full of facts and quite entertaining – simply ARTE!”says Wolfgang Bergmann, ARTE coordinator on ZDF.
