Abu Dhabi ്യം Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has said that the country will preserve the welfare legacy of UAE President Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He was speaking at the Zayed Humanitarian Day celebrations yesterday, the day of Sheikh Zayed’s death (Ramadan 19). The country will follow in the footsteps of Sheikh Zayed. He added that the needy around the world have already experienced a commitment and generosity to help the homeless.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, shared on Twitter a picture of Sheikh Zayed praying for God’s mercy on the orphans and the poor. Sheikh Zayed, a symbol of helping the needy, died on the 19th of Ramadan 2004. Although 18 years have passed since his death, the UAE continues to carry out a number of charitable activities following his example. The UAE is implementing a program to bring Iftar resources to 100 crore needy people in 50 countries. Sheikh Mohammed said that Zayed Humanitarian Day is a good day to start humanitarian and charitable projects.
Since its inception in 1971, the UAE has established the Abu Dhabi Development Fund and coordinated charitable activities. In 1992, he expanded his activities to establish the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation. From the formation of the country until Sheikh Zayed’s death, aid worth AED 9050 crore was delivered to 117 countries.
