Launched in Brazil in September this year, Chilean streaming TV operator Zapping confirmed the arrival of its own sports channel in Brazil, with exclusive broadcasting rights for the national territory.
In an interview with the portal NaTelinhathe company’s Country Manager, Renato Svirsky, said that direct content will soon arrive on the platform’s schedule in the country, such as Zapping Sports and music stations.
He also adds that Zapping’s intention will not be to compete with partners, who already own broadcasting rights, but rather to complement them. The executive also says that he understands that niches exist as an opportunity for the local market.
“We will have direct content like there is in Chile. These will be Zapping branded bass channels for the Brazilian public. Like music and sports channels. In the case of Zapping Sports, it will have exclusive television rights for the country. Soon, we will have news on this front. Many of our partners are rights owners. And our objective is in no way to compete with them, but to complement them. We know that the situation of sports rights in the country has changed a lot with the increase in the dollar… Ultimately, this means that the available money is channeled to smaller competitions, which have loyal audiences. Many are free, so we think there is a lot of opportunity to find niches to work in the Brazilian market.”

Currently, Zapping Brasil offers approximately 90 channels in its range, with plans ranging from R$10.90 to R$89.90. As TudoCelular has already reported since the testing phase, the operator offers Replay TV for up to seven days, real-time game statistics, HEVC codec for lower data consumption and Turbo Mode to reduce delay.
