In addition to the stand of the Kanizsa Cultural Center, the Pannon University Nagykanizsa Circular Economy University Center will be preparing specials on Saturday from 3 to 7 p.m. For example, the Soós center conducts interesting experiments every hour. But there will be a craft playhouse related to recycling, a quiz, and those interested can learn regarding the circular approach.

The international bicycle parade of the Kanizsa Oldtimer Bicycle Association (KOKSZ) has been part of the city’s birthday event for years. In addition to the Circle of Velocipede Friends in the capital, traditional Croatian, Slovenian and Austrian cyclists also came to this year’s event to show off their vintage bikes and cycle around the city. We met the large team at one of their stops, the legendary Függönyös pub in Kanizsa.

– It is a great pleasure that we can finally welcome our friends back to Nagykanizsa – said Tibor Dene, president of KOKSZ. – Nearly 90 happy cycling friends came to spend this day with us and celebrate with the city. In addition to seven velocipedes, we will also show our bikes with interesting shapes. All other bikes date from the 1920s-50s. The Slovenians, for example, brought Opel, Peugeot or even Puma brand two-wheelers, which were actually produced by the big car manufacturers and the sports equipment manufacturer even earlier.

Sándor Rajnai, vice president of the association, added: this year is also a special year in the life of their association, as they are celebrating their ten-year anniversary. Their current membership is 35, and twenty cyclists actively participate in demonstrations and parades. This year, expectedly in the second half of the year, I would like to open the Sugár street bicycle museum, which will be the first such facility in Transdanubia.

The day in the city was a bit disrupted by the early followingnoon downpour, but the programs continued to rumble on. For example, at 5 p.m., the band New Level Empire will perform in front of the audience, and following the Brass Band of Nagykanizsa, the band Republic will give a two-hour live concert from 8 p.m. In the meantime, light painting will be projected onto the surrounding buildings and fireworks are expected at 10:15 p.m. The festival will close with a street ball by the band Zero.
