“Zanka Contact” by Ismaël El Iraki wins the Grand Prize at the 22nd Tangier National Film Festival (FNF)

The film “Zanka Contact” by Ismaël El Iraki won the Grand Prize of the 22nd edition of the National Film Festival (FNF) of Tangier, in the category of feature films, during the closing ceremony which took place Saturday evening at the Ahmed Boukmakh cultural center, in the city of Detroit.

Thus, the Jury Prize went ex-aequo to the films “Mica” by Ismaël Ferroukhi and to the feature film “Murs efffondrés” by Hakim Belabbes, which also won the editing prize.

The Prize for the best male role was awarded to Younes Bouab for his role in “Mont Moussa” by Driss Mrini, while the Prize for the best female role was awarded to Jalila Talemesi for her role in “Poissons rouges” by Abdeslam Kelai , which also won the Screenplay Award.

In addition, the prize for the 2nd best male role was awarded to Azelarab Kaghat for his performance in “Mica” by Ismael Ferroukhi and that of the 2nd best female role to Fatima Attif for her performance in “Zanka Contact”.

The director’s prize was awarded to Nabil Ayouch for his film “Haut et fort”, while the prize for the first work was awarded ex-aequo to “La vie me va bien” by Al Hadi Ulad Mohand and “L’égarée” by Driss Roukhe.

In addition, the sound prize was awarded to Hamza Fakir for “Annatto” and the production prize to Mohamed El Hassan Chaoui for “La merchandise”.

Regarding the prize for the best image, it was awarded to Ali Benjelloun for “Habiba” while the prize for authentic music was awarded to Driss El Maloumi.

The child Zakaria Inan received a special mention from the members of the jury for his performance in the film “Mica” by Isamel Ferroukhi.

In the short film category, the Grand Prize was won by “Story” by Mohamed Bouhari.

The Best Screenplay Prize was awarded to Yassine El Moujahid for his short film “Ziyad”, while the Jury Prize was won ex-aequo by “Spring Days” by Imad Badi and “Le Silence d’Aida ” by Ahmed Messoudi. For this category, the special mention of the jury was given to “Nejma Mars 2020” by Leila Msefer.

In the category of documentary feature films, Mohamed El Aboudi came out on top with the Documentary Grand Prize thanks to “School of hope”. “Maa Al Aynayn, the fighter and the divine scientist”, by Azlarabe Alaoui, won the Special Jury Prize alongside the documentary “Morocco’s Bollywood dream” by Abdelilah El Jaouhary.

The critics’ prizes awarded by the Moroccan Association of Film Critics were awarded to the film “Collapsed Walls” by Hakim Belabbes in the feature film category, “Treason” by Salma Loukhmas in the short film category and “Suspended Women ” by Merieme Addou in the documentary category, with a special mention for the feature film “Poissons rouges” by Abdeslam Kelai and for the short film “Aicha” by Zakaria Nouri.

At the same time, the film club prizes awarded by the National Federation of Film Clubs were awarded to the documentary film “School of hope” by Mohamed El Aboudi, to the short film “Story” by Mohamed Bouhari and to the feature film “ Life suits me well” by Al Hadi Ulad Mohand, with a special mention to the short film “Grain de dust” by Mohamed Ezoubeiri.

During this closing ceremony, a tribute was paid to the president of the Moroccan Chamber of Cinemas, Al Hosein Boudih, to the director Izza Genini and to the screenwriter, actor and journalist Ali Hassan.

Chaired by Driss Anouar, audiovisual sector expert and former deputy general manager in charge of technique and production of the “2M” channel, the jury for the 22nd FNF feature film competition included Lahcen Zinoun (filmmaker, choreographer) , Touria Majdouline (academic, writer and poet), Mohamed Tarrous (academic, film critic), Bilal Marmid (journalist, film critic), Bouchra Boulouiz (writer) and Belaid El Akkaf (songwriter).

The short film competition jury was made up of director Layla Triqui, in her capacity as president, and members Ghizlane Assif (director, chief editor), Ikram Zaid (journalist), Mohamed Abid (columnist , poet) and Bouchra Boumarej (costumer, costume designer).

Chaired by director Daoud Aoulad Syad, the jury for the feature-length documentary competition included Mariem Ait Belhoucine (professor of journalism, doctor of cinema) and Abdelwahab Sibaouaih (doctor of letters, collector of manuscripts and archives).
