MEXICO CITY.- Arturo Zaldivarformer president of the Supreme Court of Justice and supporter of Morena, will be among the 5 members of the Executive Branch Evaluation Committeewhich will review the profiles of the candidates for the elections of the Judiciary in 2025as revealed this Thursday by President Claudia Sheinbaum.

In addition to Arturo Zaldívar, who is also current coordinator of Politics and Government of the Presidency headed by Sheinbaum Pardo, the committee is also made up of Isabel Inés Romero Cruz, presiding judge of the Superior Court of Justice and the Judiciary Council of the State of Veracruz, and Vanessa Romero Rocha, lawyer.

The Legal Department of the Presidency explained in a statement that the main function of the committee is to issue a call for interested persons to participate in the evaluation and selection processes of candidates for all elected positions in the Judicial Branch.

Judicial reform instruction

The judicial reform establishes that the three branches of government – the Legislative, Executive and Judicial – must designate a committee to evaluate the candidacies for the elections next June.

This Tuesday, the Legislative was the first of the three branches of the Government to appoint their committee, with a qualified majority in both Chambers, the same with which they approved the controversial reform.

The deadline for committee selection is this Thursday and The Judiciary has not yet ruled on its members, in the midst of tensions in the Government due to the resignations of Supreme Court ministers.
