Zakharova: The Israeli delegation to the UN is turning the session into a farce

New York – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakhareva criticized the actions of the Israeli delegation to the UN Security Council, stressing that the delegation is turning diplomatic work into a farce.

Zakharova pointed to people who started screaming following the speech of the Israeli representative to the UN during a session on the situation in the Middle East, and said on her Telegram channel: “After the speech of the permanent representative of Israel to the UN ended, in the hall where journalists and guests are usually present, many people started screaming. The assassination attempt on Donald Trump is still fresh in the memory, and those present in the hall trembled from the sudden sharp sounds.”

“When they realized that this was not a terrorist attack, but some kind of political performance, the audience began to listen to what they were chanting. Half of them thought the words were shouted in support of Palestine, while the other half thought they were talking regarding the release of Israeli hostages,” she added.

“If you think that rioters broke into the UN headquarters, you are mistaken,” Zakharova continued. “As it turned out, these were troublemakers who were specially invited by the Israeli Permanent Mission. The UN Secretariat confirmed this, calling the rioters “guests of the Israeli delegation.”

“Not only was this a stupid move, it also had the opposite effect – many were mistaken for pro-Palestinian activists,” the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman stressed. “But, apparently, it would be appropriate to report to Tel Aviv on the completion of the mission.”

She stressed that “the behavior of the Israeli delegation to the United Nations has long raised questions among many: the staff of this country’s permanent mission regularly turn diplomatic work into a farce.”

“Is it really possible that even at the UN headquarters, especially with what is happening around the US elections, they cannot restore order on security issues? If such behavior of one delegation is recognized as the norm, then soon the “guests” of some other delegations, in support of their diplomats, will begin to disrupt order and interrupt the work of the Security Council in various ways. I will not mention which ones,” she concluded.
