Each of us carries many memories and situations that happened to him during the month of Ramadan throughout his life, especially those that he lived through in his childhood and the beginnings of his career.
Among those memories is what the great artist, Yehia Shaheen, talked regarding in a rare dialogue regarding the situations that he passed through and that he did not forget during the month of Ramadan.
The great artist, Yahya Shaheen, said: “At the beginning of my artistic life, I was working with one of the theater groups and playing the role of a Roman commander. ».
And the great artist continued: “I carried the swords to the emperor, and while he took part in performing the scene, my feet stumbled and fell, so the audience laughed, and some of them chanted: Isn’t it a shame to remain a commander of armies and fall like this?”
Yehia Shaheen confirmed that these comments provoked him and he felt angry, so he only responded to these comments by saying: “I pray fasting.” And everyone burst into laughter, even the band members.
And the great artist added: “I was surprised, on the next day, by a decision to deduct 3 days from my salary because I commented on the public’s words, which is considered one of the things that violates the band’s system.” Throughout my life, I have not forgotten this situation and my naivety in it.
The great artist also told his story with the first cigarette in his life, and said that he knew smoking for the first time during the day in Ramadan, although he was throughout his life and since his childhood keen to fast.
The great artist explained that a fellow actress was the reason behind his smoking the first cigarette during the day in Ramadan, pointing out that when he was in his prime and working in the Fatima Rushdi band, he sat during the rehearsal looking at some of his colleagues while he was amazed and denounced because they were smoking and drinking coffee during the day in Ramadan, ignoring that they were in month of fasting and are not interested in the feelings of their fellow fasting people.
Yahya Shaheen indicated that one of his colleagues looked at him for a long time, he did not understand its meaning and forgot with her that he was fasting.
The great artist confirmed that he suddenly remembered that he was fasting, so he threw the cigarette away and said: “I ask forgiveness from God Almighty, I am fasting.”
In order not to anger a colleague, Yehia Shaheen, he bought a luxurious pack of cigarettes, and the next day he began to compliment his colleague and give her one cigarette following another without smoking from it because he was fasting.
